Home Fashions And Trends: Arlee, Sunham, Waverly, Beaulieu, Universal, Blue Ridge And Robert Allen

When it comes to home fashion, the greatest challenge is deciding where to begin. There seems to be as many home fashions as there are homes. It all comes down to personal tastes and goals, budget, the design of the house, and an interest in current home trends.

Myriads of home fashion items can be found practically everywhere. But for those who are more careful and discriminating in their tastes, it is wise to shop around and compare the products of different home fashion manufacturers in order to get the most superior quality at the best possible value. So how many companies have products that are worth looking into? There are quite a few, in fact.

Many home fashion companies sell items for every room in the house, but some specialize in certain areas of the home, or are more recognized for the products they make for those areas. For example, Universal Home Fashions is a major manufacturer of décor for the bathroom and Arlee Home Fashions is known primarily for its pillows and chair cushions.

Robert Allen Home Fashions has a wide selection of fabrics for anyone who wishes to craft their own home fashion items. The numerous fabrics at the Robert Allen website can be sorted by color, pattern, or intended uses (such as for upholstery or drapery). There are at least 32 main fabric types in all, with at least 35 five different design motifs. Many furniture items are also sold at Robert Allen, including chairs, sofas, and ottomans.

Waverly Home Fashions also sells more than one type of furnishing, but it offers particularly attractive wallpaper and borders, and even has a section on its home site full of home decorating tips. Waverly offers so many choices in fabrics, paint colors, and wallpaper patterns and shades that it is easy to lose count. There are quite a number of plaid and striped patterns among the fabrics, in every color combination imaginable. Shades of paint range from soft pastel pinks and greens to bold reds and golds like "Roman Orange." Waverly's paints can be found at Lowe's. The wallpapers are usually under $30 per roll, and the fabrics are typically less than $40 a yard.

Beaulieu Home Fashions (or Beaulieu & Coronet) is first and foremost a vendor of carpets. Beaulieu & Coronet divides its carpets into eight separate types, based on variations such as style, what materials the carpets are made of, and where they are intended for use. For example, the Second Nature carpets are made from recycled plastic which would otherwise have polluted a landfill. The Berber fashion line is also specific for its 18 different "desert" hues.

Blue Ridge Home Fashions specialize in bedroom textiles, and its manufacturing facilities are based in China. The company's concentration is in feather-down comforters and pillows, with a seal on their homepage declaring the safety inspection procedures for their materials. Along with an ordinary feather-down comforter, they also offer one made from silk and special Hungarian goose feathers. Their comforters are sewn in a way that prevents the highly annoying shifting of stuffing in other down comforters.

Sunham's stunning and affordable bedroom accents can be found at popular shopping outlets like TJ Maxx, Macy's, Wal-Mart, and Sears and through retailers such as Avon, the Home Shopping Network, and Overstock.com. Although most of their merchandise consists of bedding items like comforters, quilts, and sheets, they also have bathroom items such as rugs and towels.

For people who desire to follow the current home trends, they must keep in mind that although these trends do not change as quickly as trends in clothing, they go through cycles that are just as dramatic. At least once every few years, new trends surface, as is apparent in every store with an interior decorating section. As of 2006, bright and bold colors are the popular color schemes, deep soaking tubs have replaced whirlpool tubs in bathrooms, and granite is the preferred material for countertops. But future trends are already being speculated upon – infinity tubs, luminescent paint colors, and possibly sandstone and limestone gaining an equal footing with granite.

Home fashion is ultimately a means of self-expression. Trends can be fun to follow, but sometimes expensive to keep up with and do not appeal to everyone. A person's own preferences are what matters when creating a pleasing and welcoming home environment. As the proverb says: A man's home is his castle – to each his own!
